Mary Stenta

RAD, AISTD, ADAPT, BEd, MEd, OCT.

Mary Stenta founded The Academy of Dance Arts in 1999; she is the owner and Artistic Director of the company. Mary has been teaching the love of dance to students since 1980. Mary is a graduate of Ryerson University Dance Program. She is an Accredited Teacher and a Full Member of The Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.). Mary also holds the Honours Advanced National, and the Associate and Honours Advanced Modern certificates of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (A.I.S.T.D.), and is a member of the Jazz Division for the Associated Dance Arts for Professional teachers (A.D.A.P.T).

Mary Stenta is also a graduate of the University of Ottawa, Master of Education (MEd), and Bachelor of Education (BEd), Summa Cum Laude. She also received an Arts Specialist Certificate from the University of Ottawa, and continues to teach and support the importance of Arts in education. Mary has danced professionally in Canada, and has worked with professional companies in Leningrad and Moscow, Russia. Her choreographic flair, grace, and attention to detail have earned her many awards.Under her guidance, ADA students have earned rewards of distinction from Overall Top Studio Awards, to Dancer of the Year Awards.Students have danced in Los Angeles, So You Think You Can Dance, Cirque de Soleil, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens’ Nutcracker, Tree House TV, Culture Shock, Driven, CanDance European Show Team, Dance World Cup, Ryerson University, and York University. Mary continues to share her passion of dance education, and inspires students of all ages!

Alessandra

Alessandra Stenta

Alessandra is a vibrant dancer from Ottawa, Canada, now currently residing in Los Angeles. She has danced around the globe with some of the biggest names in the music & entertainment industry. We welcome Alessandra back to ADA as a guest choreographer!

Alessandra has trained for over 20 years gaining her Advanced certificates in RAD Ballet, ADAPT Jazz, ADAPT Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. She has received numerous awards and scholarships, including National Dancer of the Year Award at the Dance World Cup in Montréal, Canada. Alessandra began her professional career in Canada, dancing for world-renowned DJ’s such as Diplo, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Steve Angello, Nervo and many more. Alessandra now permanently resides in Los Angeles, California, working full-time as a professional dancer/ choreographer. Since the move to LA, she has had the privilege of dancing for world class brands in TV, Film, and print, including adidas, Disney, Beachbody, Captain Morgan, Spotify, JBL Audio, and Diageo Liqeur. She has danced alongside superstar musicians such as Meghan Trainor, Paris Hilton, Tyga, JBalvin, Rich the Kid, Jhené Aiko, and as a lead for Snoop Dogg! She has had the privilege of working with industry greats such as Brian Friedman, in the creation of his Las Vegas dance show, A Mob Story, with Chris Scott on So You Think You Can Dance, with Richy Jackson, Galen Hooks, Nick Demoura, Charm Ladonna, Josh Smith, Kenny Wormald, Willdabeast & Janelle Ginestra, and many more. She can most recently be seen on 20th Century Fox’s American Horror Story “1984”!

Natasha

Natasha Stenta

Natasha’s twenty–seven years of dancing have earned her Advanced certificates in A.D.A.P.T. Jazz, Tap, RAD Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Hip Hop. Natasha continues to dance and has appeared in music videos and live performances throughout North America and Europe. She was a member of the CanDance Greece Performance Team and danced at the Escapade Musical Festival for famous Djs such as Steve Angelo, Benny Benassi, Fedde Le Grand, Hardwell, W&W and Krewella.  Natasha is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, with a Bachelor of Education as an accredited teacher, and a Bachelor of Arts with concentrations in Psychology and Theatre. Natasha is also a remarkable choreographer and teacher. She choreographed the CASCO Charity Gala for CHEO, and teaches students of all ages at ADA, who in turn succeed tremendously under her direction. Her unique style and creative flair are evident in her teaching style, and in her Diamond and first place choreographies.

Cherisse

Cherisse Hansen

Born and raised in Trinidad, Cherisse’s love of dance and in particular ballet, was nurtured at one of the Caribbean’s leading RAD accredited schools. She spent her summers at the Royal Academy of Dance headquarters in London, England and became a Principle Dancer with Premiere Productions Dance Company. Graduating Valedictorian from Ryerson University’s Dance Program, she was awarded the prestigious Dance Director’s Award. Cherisse is a teaching member of the Royal Academy of Dance and holds her teaching certificate with Distinction. She is thrilled to be back teaching at ADA and looks forward to sharing her passion of ballet with her students.

Amelie

Amélie Gravelle

Amélie has been part of the dance community since the age of three. Throughout her childhood, Amelie trained and performed in many styles, including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. She began her teaching career as an assistant teacher at the age of twelve. Amelie has been a teacher for 14 years, specializing in Tap. Throughout those years, she has choreographed many award-winning competitive numbers. Amelie is a graduate of the Teacher’s Training School A.D.A.P.T. program in the styles of jazz and tap.
Furthermore, she has completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Ottawa in Human Kinetics, Sc., and her Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. Amelie loves to share her passion with her students, helping them reach their full potential. Seeing her students’ success is what makes her proud!/td>

Theresa

Theresa Ramsarup

Theresa believes dance is a way to express. Theresa has been dancing since she was three years old. Her journey began in Ottawa with Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Hip hop. She progressed through her examinations in Ballet, Tap & Jazz, accomplishing her Advanced Jazz and Tap exams. Furthermore, Theresa successfully completed all of her Grade Examinations with The Royal Academy of Dance. After graduating, Theresa began teaching, reveling the feeling of pride and achievement her students always brought her. Through the summer months, she sought out more adventure in dance traveling to Los Angeles to work with fantastic artists like Jennifer Lopez, Flo Rida, Brandy & Chris Brown. Theresa has since graduated from Carleton University with a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. She moved to San Antonio, Texas, to further her education, acquiring a Masters in Business. Theresa is working towards her teaching membership with the Royal Academy of Dance. While also working as the ADA Office Manager, she continues to teach dance to eager students itching to learn and enjoy the expressiveness dance has to offer!

Michael

Michael Stenta

Michael Stenta is an energetic dancer both on stage, and in the studio! He has been dancing for 18 years, training, and performing in Hip Hop and Contemporary. His hard work and commitment have earned her many awards. During her last years as a competitive dancer, Michael was Top Senior Male Soloist. Michael enjoys sharing his love and knowledge of dance, and is excited to see what is in store for him, and for the many students that he inspires!

Emma

Emma Gover

Emma grew up taking dance classes at ADA where she received her Advanced certificates in ADAPT Jazz, Tap, and R.A.D. Ballet. She has won many awards as Top Soloist, and Top Duets, and Top Group performer. In 2018, Emma moved to Australia where she experienced dance outside of Canada, and discovered her passion for dance. Emma began teaching again at ADA in 2019. She adores teaching many forms of dance: Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary. She believes each type of dance has something unique to offer, and each style helps students become better dancers! Part of that love is sharing these movements and techniques with her students. Emma is amazing at inspiring and motivating students; she creates an engaging environment for students to learn and grow!

Bryanne Karosas

Bryanne has been dancing since the age of 3 and is trained in various types of dance styles, including Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, RAD ballet, Hip Hop, and Tap. She has worked under many award-winning choreographers, such as Eryn Waltman. She competed since the age of 8, and has been apart of many award-winning groups. Currently, she is enrolled at University of Ottawa and is working on obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in French, and is working towards receiving her Bachelor of Education. Bryanne is very outgoing and hardworking, and always goes above and beyond for her students.
